I began to develop Forearm Techniques for a “Hands Free” Massage   shortly after opening my practice in 2005. Even as a student I sometimes suffered from wrist and hand pain. After a visit with my Orthopedist, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis – I have little to no cartilage remaining around three carpal bones in each of my hands. Thus, I developed and polished the techniques we will review in this course.

Forearm Techniques for a “Hands Free” Massage
is an approach to bodywork designed to lessen the stress practitioners put on the muscles, tendons, joints and ligaments of the wrist and hand. Whether the practitioner already suffers from injury or pathology or is looking for new techniques; this modality offers an opportunity to demonstrate the use of the forearm and olecranon for practical application in almost any setting thus reducing the wear and tear on our most precious tools – our hands. With practical application of these techniques, the practitioner will have the tools necessary to prolong their career and work with comfort. The modality utilizes breathing, contact holds, rocking, stretching, forearm and olecranon techniques to facilitate muscular and energetic releases. This NCBTMB Approved CE Course provides the practitioner with the knowledge and skills needed to perform a 50-minute protocol.

Course Objectives
  • To identify the tools for this modality.
  • To explore the application of these tools.
  • To discuss the benefits of applying these tools to facilitate our client’s wellness plan.
  • To demonstrate techniques of breathing, contact, rocking, stretching and forearm tools used to facilitate Forearm Techniques for a “Hands Free” Massage.
  • To demonstrate body mechanics for a Forearm Techniques for a “Hands Free” Massage application.
  • To demonstrate tools necessary for regional and full-body application of Forearm Techniques for a “Hands Free” Massage protocol.
As an instructor of bodywork at the Baltimore School of Massage, I am honored to teach the CORE program to new students as well as Massage Variations, Acupressure, Shiatsu, Movement/Assessment/Re-patterning and Structural Bodywork. I opened Tranquili – Chi Massage & Wellness in 2005. The center focuses on holistic approaches to wellness and offers Acupuncture, Counseling, Bodywork and Massage.  My experiences in the classroom and private practice are complimentary - the Yin and Yang of my life as a bodyworker.
