What if the stories we inherit are shaping us in ways we don't even realize?
Myth, Meditation & Reiki is a new series that explores the stories humanity has told for generations—and what those stories can still reveal about us today.
Each gathering begins with a particular myth, legend, historical figure, or cultural story. We'll explore its history and origins, how the story has changed over time, and the symbolism hiding beneath the surface. Then we move out of the history book and into ourselves.
Through a guided meditation inspired by the themes we've uncovered, you'll have an opportunity to explore how those same ideas may appear in your own life. During the meditation, Steven will provide Reiki to each participant, creating space for reflection, release, and healing.
You don't need to know anything about mythology, religion, history, meditation, or Reiki. Come curious.
Our First Myth: Columbus — The Pedestal
For our first gathering, held on Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day, we'll explore Christopher Columbus—not simply the historical man, but the myth America created around him.
How did someone who never stepped foot in what became the United States become an American hero? Why did his image become so important to American identity, Italian immigrants, and Catholics? And why has that same image become so contested today?
Our meditation will center on The Pedestal—the beliefs, people, institutions, and stories we've inherited and perhaps never thought to question.
What have we been taught to place on a pedestal?
What happens when we finally examine it for ourselves?
And what are we ready to carry forward—or leave behind?
Reiki tables, pillows, and blankets are provided. Simply arrive comfortable and ready to experience.
Limited to only 8 participants to keep this gathering intimate and allow everyone to receive individual Reiki.
